Bill Scherlis has been named to a National Academies consensus study on Digital Transformation in the Department of the Air Force.
The committee, established by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM), is conducting a study to assess the proposed strategy of digital transformation and progress towards establishing a unified digital enterprise between the Air and Space Forces. The committee held its inaugural meeting in July.
Scherlis is a professor of computer science and former head of S3D. He is currently a special advisor to the Software Engineering Institute.
In addition to the study on digital transformation, Scherlis has recently been appointed to the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) of the National Academies and its study on Cyber Hard Problems. In January, Scherlis testified before the House of Representatives subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation about steps to ensure an AI-ready federal workforce.
